Meet the Flock: Abby Anderson

Name: Abby Anderson

Role at Red Bird: Fiction Editor

How I became involved with Red Bird and why I agreed to do it:
I became familiar with Red Bird through Hamline University’s MFA program, where Red Bird has it’s roots. I agreed to be a fiction editor because Red Bird’s mission and interest is in the purposeful marriage of writing and book arts, and that’s rad.

Recent Red Bird project(s):
None yet, can’t wait to get started!

A little about my own work and what I am currently working on:
I’m a writer of fiction and memoir/essay. I’m into the dark, the sad, and the unlikeable, and I’m way into realism; the bleaker the better. I’ve been working with the short story format for the past few years, and enjoy the challenge of working in a small space. That said, I’ve been newly released into the wild (after graduating from my fiction-focused MFA program), and have lately been finding respite in memoir.

My favorite thing(s) that can be found in the public domain:

MPR, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, peanut butter.
