Red Bird's Haley Lasché will be leading a writing workshop to raise funds for Red Bird Chapbooks. The workshop will take place at Artista Bottega on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Please join us at SubText: A Bookstore on Thursday, January 28, 2016 as they host four local Red Bird authors reading from their chapbooks. The reading will begin at 7:00 pm with book signing to follow.
Geraldine Buchanan's "Draw Your Horizon Line Low" is a collection of poems that resonate and reverberate with every reading. There are tigers and lovers and friends and the irony of a life fully lived. Most of all there is truth observed with "no filters".
Paula Cisewski's "Misplaced Sinister" is a collection of lyric prose that explores (among other things) family, relationships, handedness, language, history, and mythology. Paula's poetic sensibilities amplify the narrative - her syntax, phrasing and image choices deftly working together.
James C Henderson's "Chasing Delight" is a reminder that each day, year, decade, life is made up of small, individual moments. These moments, these little interactions, have incredible power if we see them for the wonders they are. If we consider how each builds and adds to the sum of our whole, our happiness, our contentment, our lives. James writes of the moments of his life vividly, compassionately, and also with a wry sense of humor that reminds us not to take ourselves or our lives too seriously.
Eric Hove's "Strange Friend" is a chapbook that makes you want to savor, the language precise, the tone contemplative without being preachy. Sort of like enjoying a fine wine, a little tart, a little sweet, a little aftertaste and a lingering feeling of warmth.
